The replica was a labor of love for members of the Pulaski County Historical Society around 1965. In order to consolidate properties so the society could concentrate on the museum, the cabin was gifted to the Power From The Past, with permission from the County Commissioners (the property is county-owned).
Logs were hand-cut, hand-hewn, hand-notched. All work was done by volunteer laborers who were not necessarily skilled carpenters.
