Dodge City, Kansas, 1875. (Wiki)

Imagine yourself in 1870s Dodge City, Kansas. It’s a frontier town, the wildest of the wild. Who are you? Do you work for the railroad? Are you a drover? Do you own horses? Cattle? Are you a farmer? In the 1870s, Dodge City saw veterans from both the Confederacy and the Union. Which side did you support or fight for? Are you a woman? If so, your options are more limited. You can be a wife, teacher, or saloon gal. Which one are you?

The Long Branch Saloon, 1870-1885. (Wiki)

No town embodied the spirit of the Old West more than Dodge City. Texas cattle arrived by way of the Shawnee Trail. The Santa Fe Railroad came through from the east. The western boundary was the Fort Dodge Indian reservation. To the south was Indian Territory, the government land which later became Oklahoma. It had more gunfighters working at one time or another than any other town in the West. It had saloons, gambling halls, and brothels. It was an outlaw’s paradise.
